Today I attended online church and then had fellowship with other members afterward on Zoom. I took Penny for her run and then stopped at Albertsons to pick up a couple of things I forgot Friday. Albertsons has signs that require people to wear face coverings and has put markers on the floor, indicating the direction of travel for each isle. Some people were not wearing masks and ignoring the direction signs on the floor.

Emergency Services personnel reported five new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, increasing the total to 201 in the county. Local health officers say out of the 201 cases, 149 patients have fully recovered, meaning approximately 74 percent of COVID-19 patients in the county have recovered. Information from the County Public Health Department shows 44 patients are recovering at home, and seven patients in the hospital, with three in the intensive care unit. San Luis Obispo County is also providing free COVID-19 testing starting Monday at testing centers in Grover Beach and Paso Robles. You must make an appointment for testing as they are unable to take walk-ins.

Approximately 500 people gathered in Paso Robles to protest California’s ongoing shelter at home order. Amanda Hawkins, an organizer of the “Stand for Freedom Rally” in Paso Robles, said her group was utilizing their constitutional right to peaceful assembly. More people are questioning the effectiveness and cost of the stay at home orders. In Ontario, Canada, due to the coronavirus pandemic, an estimated 35 people have died because of cardiac surgery postponements. In Denver, there have been 203 cases of COVID-19 in the homeless population, according to a city spokesperson. Of those cases, 170 were discovered through health screenings at area shelters. The coronavirus pandemic has significantly impacted the travel industry, with fewer Americans traveling in the typical volume. According to a new survey, this might cause more people to fly during the holidays, which is usually one of the busiest seasons. The U.S. Justice Department is siding with a Virginia church suing Gov. Ralph Northam after police threatened a pastor with jail time or a $2,500 fine for violating the state’s coronavirus lockdown restrictions by holding a 16-person church service on Palm Sunday.
